What is an embedded recruiter?
An embedded recruiter is a recruitment specialist who works inside your organisation as part of your team, using your applicant tracking system, your email domain and your employer brand, for a defined period. They are paid for their time through a day rate or monthly fee rather than a percentage of each hire's salary. The model is sometimes called embedded talent acquisition or an in-house recruiter on demand, and it sits between using a contingent agency and hiring permanent recruitment headcount.
How is embedded recruitment different from an agency?
Three differences matter. Commercially, you pay for time rather than a percentage of salary, so ten hires cost roughly the same in fees as one instead of ten times as much. Operationally, the recruiter works inside your team under your brand, so candidates experience your company rather than an intermediary. And practically, you choose the individual from a validated shortlist rather than being allocated whoever happens to be on the agency's desk.
How is it different from an RPO?
Scale and commitment. Recruitment process outsourcing typically means a large, multi-year contract where a provider takes over a whole function, with months of procurement and implementation before anyone is hired. Embedded is a small number of named specialists, standing up in days, on an engagement you can end when the hiring plan is delivered. RPO makes sense at very high sustained volume with predictable demand. Embedded makes sense for surge, specialist depth, or a hiring plan with an end date.
Do embedded recruiters work onsite or remotely?
Both, and you specify which in the brief. Embedded assignments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are frequently onsite or hybrid, commonly two or three days a week in your office, because proximity to hiring managers is usually what makes the model work. Some engagements are fully remote by design, particularly when you want a recruiter physically located in the talent market you are hiring from rather than in your own building. We match to specialists who can genuinely meet the pattern you need, including those already resident in your emirate with the right to work onsite.
How long is a typical embedded engagement?
Three to six months is the most common range, which is long enough to build genuine pipeline and short enough to stay tied to a specific hiring plan. Our largest programme ran four recruiters for six months and then continued on a flexible, as-needed basis. Shorter engagements work for a defined surge. Anything beyond twelve months is usually a signal that permanent headcount is the better economic answer, and we will tell you that.
Can embedded recruiters be security cleared?
Yes, where the mandate requires it. Tell us the clearance level and issuing authority in the brief and we will only present specialists who already hold it or who are eligible and willing to complete the sponsoring entity's process. Clearance is granted by the relevant authority rather than by Hyring, so timelines are set by them. Where formal clearance is not required but sensitivity is high, we can apply enhanced background checks and entity-specific non-disclosure agreements before anything about the mandate is shared.
How many hires justify embedding someone?
Roughly three, and decisively above ten. Below three hires a year, a contingent agency is simpler and we will say so. Between three and ten, embedded usually wins on cost and always wins on candidate experience. Above ten, the comparison stops being close: agency fees scale linearly with every hire while an embedded day rate does not.
Can we keep the recruiter permanently afterwards?
Often, yes, and we prefer to have that conversation openly. Some specialists are committed independents with no interest in a permanent role. Others would consider the right one. If you want to convert an embedded specialist into permanent headcount, tell us and we will agree fair terms with you and with them. Nobody is contractually trapped on either side.
